Beth Chapman Hanlon, M.D., FACP

Dr. Hanlon was a founding member of Alpine Medical Group, LLC in 1997. She is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical School in Houston and completed residency at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals, where she was also Chief Medical Resident.  She was recognized in 1990 as University of Utah Outstanding Resident and at the VA Medical Center as Outstanding Humanitarian Resident in 1990. Dr. Hanlon was an attending physician at the University of Utah Hospital and VA Medical Center after residency until 1993, when she joined the medical staff of Holy Cross Hospital. Since then she as been in private practice as a primary care Internal Medicine Specialist.

Dr. Hanlonís special clinical interests include health maintenance issues in adults, especially in patients with diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.


 

 

Yong Hui Ahn, M.D.

Dr. Ahn joined Dr. Hanlon in her private Internal Medicine practice in 1994 and was a founding member of Alpine Medical Group, LLC. She graduated from the University of Kentucky Medical School in Lexington and completed residency in Internal Medicine at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Prior to 1993, Dr. Ahn was on the staff at the Salt Lake Community Health Clinics. 

She is involved in the Salt Lake Korean-American community and enjoys knowing her patients well, providing them with guidance in health maintenance issues.  She is an outdoor enthusiast, loving to hike, bike and ski.


 
Mike Killpack, M.D.   
Board certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Mike Killpack joined Alpine Medical Group in 2009. He completed medical school at the University of Utah and an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Killpack practiced general Internal Medicine over the next 15 years in New Mexico and Missouri. Family interests brought him back to Utah. 

Dr. Killpack has experience in the full range of inpatient and outpatient general Internal Medicine as well as extensive experience in palliative and long-term skilled facility care. He is the father of 6 children, an avid skier and triathlete.


 
James S. Wood, M.D.
Board certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Wood has practiced Geriatric Medicine (care of older patients) and General Internal Medicine for 30 years in Salt Lake. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1975 and did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine in Salt Lake City. He was in the first group of doctors in the VA Geriatric Fellowship for Physicians (1978-1980) in Little Rock, AR and received part of his training in geriatric medicine in Edinburgh, Scotland (1980).

He returned to Salt Lake and was a member of the General Internal Medicine Division at the University Hospital and Head of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the VA Hospital (1980-1990). He went into private practice in 1990 providing medical care for the elderly and working in several extended care facilities.

Dr. Wood's clinical interests are in the care of the elderly. He is also interested in the management of complex medical conditions in adults including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, and neurologic disorders. His other interests include scouting, cooking, live theater, amateur radio, and amateur astronomy.

 


 
Phyllis Mandel, M.D.
Board certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Mandel is a graduate of New York Medical College, and completed her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. She especially enjoys helping her patients to follow good preventive care practices, to help control many common medical conditions.

She was in private practice in New Rochelle, New York prior to relocating to Utah, where she enjoys the many outdoor activities the area has to offer. She loves to ski, bike, hike and take nature photographs.

 


 

Wanda Updike, M.D.   
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases

Dr. Updike attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of North Carolina and went on to complete a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals. 

Dr. Updike currently practices with Drs. Hanlon and Ahn, specializing in Infectious Diseases, and continues to provide services to Salt Lake Regional Hospital as their hospital epidemiologist.  She is also on staff at St. Markís hospital and IMC Medical Center, providing consultative services. She enjoys hiking, cooking, and traveling. 


 

Wei Peng, MD, Ph.D.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine

Dr Peng graduated from Tongji Medical College, Wuhan, P. R.  China in 1982. He practiced internal medicine and pulmonary disease in China, came to the US in 1993 and completed his residency and fellowship training at Washington University, University of Kansas Medical Center and University of Utah.  He was appointed as an adjunct assistant professor in the department of internal medicine at the school of medicine, University of Utah. He received an award from American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology in the 2005 Chest international conference.

Dr. Pengís clinical interests are in the care of various patients with lung disease and sleep disorders.

 


 
Rose Calame APRN-BC

Rose Calame received her BSN in 1981 and a Master's of Science in Nursing in 1987 from the University of Utah. She attended Westminster College where she received her second Master's degree as a Family Nurse Practioner in 2008. She worked as an ICU nurse at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center (previously known as Holy Cross Hospital) for 12 years. She emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention delivering a unique blend of nursing and medical care.

Rose lives with her husband, her dog Obi, and enjoys occasional visits from her two delightful college-aged sons. She grew up in Upstate New York, but has since fallen love with the Utah mountains where she enjoys trail running, biking and snowshoeing.
